So, Baby Comeback is like the baby bro of Baby Audio’s Comeback Kid delay/echo effect. They teamed up with Computer Music mag and originally gave it away in their August 2020 issue. Sure, Baby Comeback CM doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the full Comeback Kid, but trust me, it still rocks. You don’t get as many tweakable controls, and the tone shaping stuff is preset-only, but hey, it still sounds dope and is super versatile. If you dig colorful delays in your tracks, this is a must-try.
Let’s talk about the coolest thing this plugin’s got. Just like its big bro, Baby Comeback CM can do both modern and clean, or vintage and lo-fi vibes. Perfect for adding a sweet wide delay to your lead vocals or going full-on vintage tape echo for your shoegaze jams.
You’ve got four delay flavors to play with. “Wide” mode keeps things clean while making the stereo image pop. “Analog” mode throws it back to those old-school tape delays and bucket brigade echoes. “Saucey” gives you a lush delay that’s killer on synth leads and pads. And “Cheap” mode? It’s got those quirky 80s rack delay vibes.
Another awesome feature is the Duck control. It auto-lowers the delayed signal’s volume when your main signal is present.
