  1. Just had to dither a track from 24 to 16 bit to be able to upload it on CD Baby, so I tried all four options in Logic.

They sounded identical to me EXCEPT POW-r #1 sounds like absolute CRAP in the intro (consisting of 2 weird synth sounds).

It’s louder, midrange-y and clipping. Very strange

    1. Yeah, that makes sense. POW-r #1 is known for being the most aggressive and colored of the four options in Logic. It’s designed for simple spoken-word material, so on anything harmonically rich or with weird synth transients, it can definitely sound mid-heavy, noisy, and even feel like it’s “distorting,” especially in quiet intros.

POW-r #2 and #3 usually behave way better for music —
      #2 for more dynamic material
#3 for full mixes and dense content

If the other three sounded identical to you, that’s normal too. The dithering differences are often extremely subtle unless the material is very quiet.

But POW-r #1 sounding bad on synths?
Totally expected. I’d avoid it for music.
