Following the success of its predecessor, PULSE, Lancaster Audio is back with an update that takes impulse response (IR) management to the next level: PULSE 2. If you’re like me and spend countless hours searching for the perfect guitar tone, you know how frustrating it can be to sift through hundreds of IRs to find the right one.
PULSE 2 changes the game. Developed in collaboration with Aurora DSP, this IR loader streamlines your workflow and offers powerful tools for both beginners and mixing professionals. One of the standout features is the intuitive blending system, allowing you to merge multiple IRs seamlessly to craft your ideal tone. And the best part? You can export your custom mix as a .wav file and use it anywhere!
Why You Should Try It
One of the best things about PULSE 2 is how easy it is to use. Right out of the box, it comes with four hand-picked impulse responses from the Lancaster Audio Producer Packs – absolutely free! This means you can start experimenting immediately without having to purchase additional IRs.
Here’s what makes PULSE 2 an exceptional IR loader:
- Multi-platform compatibility
- Four IR slots for a richer and more dynamic sound
- Expandable EQ control to fine-tune your tone
- Real-time sample rate conversion
- Compatible with third-party IRs, so you can import your favorites
- Unique blend control, making it easy to find the perfect balance between multiple IRs
- HP/LP filters to shape the frequency response
- Auto Align, automatically syncing IRs to prevent phase issues
- Export mixed IRs, so you can save your custom sound
My Experience with PULSE 2
I’ve tested PULSE 2 in various mixes, and I must say the blending flexibility and real-time sample rate conversion make a huge difference. If you already have an IR library, this plugin becomes a powerful tool to optimize them effortlessly without spending hours on complex adjustments.
