Diablo Lite serves as a transient shaper specifically crafted to ensure your drums stand out in any mix.
Fundamentally, it incorporates a Punch stage for transient shaping and a Clip stage for soft/hard clipping, both routed in series. The primary objective of Diablo Lite is to elevate the impact of your drums and 808s, making them hit harder and stand out in your mix. For instance, we’ve subjected some of the softest kick samples to DIABLO, and despite maintaining the same dB levels, those kicks now deliver a punch that is 10 times more powerful, significantly enhancing the perceived loudness of each sample.The Punch stage acts as a swift transient shaper, boosting the initial attack of your drums to impart a snappier and more impactful sound. A noteworthy increase in peak volume may occur when the Punch amount is raised, especially if the Clip stage is deactivated. The Clip stage functions as a switchable hard or soft clipper, preventing the incoming signal from surpassing 0 dB. Adjusting the Clip amount raises the input gain driving the clipper. The hard clipper introduces early and aggressive distortion, while the soft clipper offers a “warmer” sound when driven. Increasing the Punch amount will also drive the clipper, eliminating loud peaks introduced by transient shaping and imbuing the sound with harmonic distortion. If the output is clipped, the orange indicator above the output level meter will activate. Clicking this indicator resets it.
