AB – Street Cursed: The Pain Behind the Bars

I came back to listen to this track today because I saw a viral TikTok video from MR.GANGSTER, where two Black men are holding an Albanian guy named Daniel hostage and pointing a knife to his head.

In the video, it looks like they are in a room where marijuana is being grown, with lots of lights and foil. You can also hear the noise of a fan, so I don’t know if a rival gang ambushed an Albanian drug room where a young Albanian guy was working, and he was threatened.

The thing is, right after this video, the song I’m about to tell you the story of starts.

If you’ve been following the UK drill scene, you know it’s not all flex and bravado. Some tracks hit you in the chest. One of those is“Street Cursed” by AB Hammerville“, a brutally honest song that doesn’t just tell a story — it lives in it.

🎙️ A Voice From East Ham

AB, repping East Ham in East London, has always kept it raw in his music. But Street Cursed takes it to another level. It’s more than just a song — it’s a eulogy, a diary entry, and a warning all wrapped in one cold, heavy tune.

Right from the intro, the instrumental sets a somber tone. Then AB enters, not to boast, but to bleed. What we get is a glimpse into the mental and emotional scars left by the street life — the kind you don’t always see on camera.

🔪 The Tragedy of Aaron Kato

One of the most heartbreaking parts of the song is AB’s reference to Aaron Kato, a close friend. According to the lyrics, Aron tried to pull a robbery — not out of greed, but to provide for his newborn. But the plan backfired.

AB raps that “the Albanians” — likely referencing a rival crew — got to him. Since that day, Aron vanished. His son will never get to see him again. In a world where silence often speaks louder than words, the implication is chillingly clear: Aaron was killed.

This isn’t just name-dropping. AB is revisiting real pain, reminding us that some losses cut so deep, they never truly heal.

⚖️ Ice — A Life Behind Bars

Then there’s Ice, another close friend of AB. The story here is a different kind of tragedy. Ice is currently serving a life sentence. Not because the evidence was solid, but because of betrayal. AB raps that others involved snitched, flipping on Ice to save themselves.

Despite weak evidence, the judge handed Ice a devastating sentence — reportedly up to 55 years. In UK drill, loyalty is often a theme. But AB flips that concept and shows how loyalty can be broken just as fast as it’s sworn.

🎧 Real Music, Real Consequences

What makes Street Cursed stand out isn’t the beat (though it’s hauntingly atmospheric), or the flow (which is precise and powerful). It’s the realness.

There’s no clout-chasing here. No designer name-drops. Just trauma, loss, and a brutally honest message:
“This street life is cursed.”

It’s no wonder AB has said in interviews that he struggles to perform this track live. You can feel it in his delivery — this isn’t entertainment for him. It’s therapy.

🧠 A Wake-Up Call Disguised as Drill

In a genre sometimes accused of glorifying violence, Street Cursed is a curveball. It doesn’t hype the streets — it haunts them. AB exposes the darkness: friends buried, families broken, futures stolen.

It’s a reminder that behind every drill rapper is a real person, with real scars. And sometimes, those scars bleed into the music.

🔁 Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a UK drill track that actually says something, this is it.
Street Cursed is raw, reflective, and painfully real. Whether you’re deep into the culture or just starting to understand it, this song demands your attention.
